Pyhäjärvi (Sacred Lake) is the name of the lake that I was born from. The goddess-protector of Finnish lakes and rivers, Vellamo, is also the guardian spirit of fishermen. In summertime my father was a fisherman. He lowered the fishing nets to the Lake; I learnt to row the boat. The boat had an end, long after my father had gone. I will have an end. The Lake stays.
